Spotlight History

interview

Welcome to the first Mobile Innovator Spotlight… the idea of this section is to highlight the good things the community is doing, whether you’re a Hub or a Core developer. So, if you have a story you want to share, let us know at the innovator@samsung.com email address.

Since this is our launch month (beta phase will last into October), and we’ve only just begun to ask developers to join us, this month we’ve decided to tell you a little bit about the Samsung Mobile Innovator team.

We’ll start at the top: Terry is head of Samsung Mobile Innovator, the man who makes the connections in Samsung and who has been responsible for setting up the entire program. He’s not grey yet, but give us time.

A quick poll reveals the shocking fact that Ben, Sanj and Phil have over 28 years of Symbian experience between them. Ben’s our Zen-like Symbian/S60 guru. Sanj is heroically looking after our many Core members, while Phil’s managing the products and services we provide the entire community, and reliving his days as a journalist. Cheng, on the Technical Consulting team, claims several years of S60 knowledge and expertise and is currently carting around every phone he can lay his hands on. Meanwhile, John has been working with our team in Seoul to get the new website in shape and will be looking for your feedback over the coming months. Finally, our youngest team member, the fresh-faced Ju Young, is the man behind SamsungIQ. This academia-focused competition is a relative oldie compared to Samsung Mobile Innovator, now in its third year.

There’s also a team fish tank cleverly hidden somewhere in the forums. If you find it do let us know.

As far as we know, we’re the first mobile phone manufacturer to launch a fully-fledged developer program on S60. We’ve got lots of plans over the rest of the year, and wait until you see what’s in store for 2009… If you’d like to meet us, you’ll find us at the Symbian Smartphone Show in October.
