Widget Test Page Guide

1. Introduction

The Widget Test Page is a tool that helps in testing the developed widgets on real devices. The page can be used by all Core and Hub members of Samsung Mobile Innovator.

During the widgets development it is necessary to test them. The first and most used tools are web browsers and emulators. However good the emulators may be, the last and most important test requires the target devices. This is where The Widget Test Page helps.

With The Widget test Page it is possible to upload and manage widgets, send them to the handsets by SMS WAP Push and download them by Samsung Mobile Widgets for Partners.

2. Joining the site

2.1. Registering a new user

To join the site you have to register on Samsung Mobile Innovator page.

Click REGISTER button. If you already have an account you can skip this part and just click SIGN IN.

After clicking you will be presented a Sign Up form. Enter your data and follow with registration. In order to become a fully privileged member you have to click an activation link that you will get in an email.

2.2. Signing in

To sign in click SIGN IN button and in the form enter your credentials and click Log in.

3. Uploading widgets

In order to upload your widget onto The Widget Test Page you have to click Register button.

You will be presented a Register screen.

In the Register screen click Browse under Widget file row to upload your widget file. When the file is successfully uploaded enter some additional information, i.e. widget’s name and description. You can also upload an image which will be set as widget’s thumbnail.

When all information is set properly, click Save to finish uploading your widget.

4. Editing widgets

To edit your widget’s name, description or thumbnail, find it on the list of uploaded widgets and click Edit button. You will be presented a screen like below.

On the edit screen change the fields that need correction. Click Save to commit changes. If you don’t want to commit the changes, click Cancel.

4.1. Uploading a new version

By using the Edit screen it I possible to upload an updated version of a widget. In order to upload a new version click Browse under Widget file row and select your new widget file. After successful upload you should be able to see new version number displayed. Click Save to commit changes.

5. Deleting widgets

To delete your widget you have to find it in the list of uploaded widgets and click Delete. You will be shown a delete confirmation popup.

Click OK to confirm deletion, click Cancel if you have changed your mind. Remember that it is not possible to recover deleted widgets.

6. Sending widgets through SMS WAP Push

Before trying to use SMS WAP Push method please find if this service is supported in your country. All page members have granted a number of pushes daily.

To send a widget to a mobile phone, find it on the list of uploaded widgets and click SMS button. You will be shown a following popup.

In order to send widgets you have to register phone numbers.

6.1. Registering new phone numbers

To register phone numbers click Phone numbers settings.

In the popup like below select your country and enter phone number.

Click Save to store the number. You can add numerous phone numbers from different counties. When you finish adding numbers, click OK to return to the SMS popup.

6.2. Sending widgets

When the numbers are set you are ready to send widgets. Select the appropriate number from the dropdown, enter code from the picture and click Send to send the widget.

7. Downloading widgets by Samsung Mobile Widgets for Partners

If you have PIN widget installed just open it and enter PIN displayed below.

To download a widget through Samsung Mobile Widgets for Partners, find it in the list of uploaded widgets and click PIN button. You will be shown a popup like below. In the popup you will find a unique PIN for the widget.
